The New Buzz: Hearts A-Flutter
Hearts are popular today; however, some hearts are more shocking than others. As we have previously mentioned, Haven’s doctors diagnosed her as having an Atrial Flutter which is a type of heart arhythmia. A very basic explanation: Haven’s right atrium was beating twice as fast as her ventricle. They ran a test this morning that confirmed that diagnosis. The cardiologist told us that cardioversion was the way to treat it. Cardioversion means to change an irregular heart beat back to a normal one. Sometimes cardioversion can be accomplished with medications, but we all are more familiar with electric cardioversion. Does this sound familiar: “Charging….Ready….Clear….. ZAP!”?
Yes, Haven’s heart was zapped today in order to correct her atrial flutter. Thankfully, it worked after one try. Her heart rate came back down into her normal sinus rhythm. She will still be on some medications to stop it from going back up. So this morning was very electrifying for all of us. Haven’s been sleeping ever since.
Unfortunately, over the past couple of days Haven has been showing signs of an infection. We have sent off several lab tests to determine the type of infection, and she is on a number of antibiotics to try to stop it before it becomes full blown. This is not good for a number of obvious reasons. Let’s just hope that we caught it in time to stop it.

Speaking of hearts…Happy Valentines Day! The first one for Haven. It is just amazing how your heart can be shocked back into a normal rythmn. I can see why she needed a good long nap. We will be praying that the test results will tell the doctors what they need to know to help Haven fight off this infection. And you are welcome for the thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing a very personal part of your lives. By doing so you have more prayers than I can imagine being prayed on your little daughters’ behalf. Enjoy the rest of your evening. Laurie

We are so thankful that you can keep us informed on Haven. She is in our thoughts and prayers everyday. We trust God will continue to give you the strength as her parents to love and care for her. She is sooo cute. Keep your eyes fix on HIM.

It’s amazing how much a little body can take. I had my ICD zap me a month ago, so it’s hard to imazine little Haven being zapped. We’ll be praying about the infection too. She’s been through so much but so has her mommy ‘n daddy ( who are very special parents). Even though Feb. is heart month, we don’t need a special month to remind us of Miss Haven. Bonnie

I heard about everything through the grapevine at Tekonsha. I’ve been praying for you guys and I’ll keep doing that. Haven is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Keep your hope in Christ. He’s got you in His hands.

Hope haven makes it through I bet it is hard especially for a little heart like havens. I am bonnie and virgil’s granddaughter and I am 12 years old.
