Haven had a restful day on her part as she slept most of the day today.  One of her favorite nurses brought in a little dress for her, so we jumped at the opportunity to put her in it last night.  It’s a cute spring dress that she looked darling in.  We have a video clip that we would like to get up on the site for you to see.

Unfortunately, Haven’s kidney function in not getting better.  This is obviously causing a problem for her fluid intake and output.  She is on about as much medicine as she can be on that is supposed to aid her in shedding the fluid, but her kidneys are able to make it happen.  There’s some talk that if things don’t get better by Monday, we may be talking about dialysis options.  Certainly no one wishes to have to put her through that, but it may be the only situation available to fix our fluid problem temporarily.  Of course, that process won’t fix her kidneys’ problems; those will have to still be looked at. 

She is scheduled to have some genetics labs taken on Monday.  We would have taken these labs sooner, but they are blood tests.  As you know, Haven has had many many blood transfusions over the past four months.  They have to wait so many days (1 to 2 weeks) after a blood transfusion before taking the genetics labs otherwise the results will be skewed by the new blood that was not produced by her own body.  Monday marks the number days after her last transfusion that they can take the tests.  In all reality, she could use some more blood right now, but we are tyring to hold off until the labs are taken so we don’t have to wait another two weeks.
