Chest-tubeless
The docs decided to remove the last of Haven’s chest tubes today, so she is now officially chest-tubeless. We’re still not out of the clear totally: we can’t quite remember, but we think the longest she has gone without chest tubes has been about 48 hours before needing them re-inserted. We’ll watch the x-rays very closely over the next few days to see if any fluid is accumulating. They have decided not to restart feeding Haven until next week. Since her chest is just now drying up, they would like to give the effect of the pleurodesis procedures plenty of time to set up and dry up any potential leak sources. This is definitely the safest route. Theoretically, if everything seals up inside the chest, feedings won’t affect drainage there. Hopefully, that will hold to be true. Right now the main focus is slowly coming down on ventilator support as well as continuing to shed extra fluid on board in Haven’s tissues. So far, she’s handling both of those things well. No progress yet on the staph infection leaving or its exact source. Hopefully, that will get sorted out soon as well. We’ll keep you posted as we progress through the week.

Praise the Lord! Haven, you are doing such a wonderful job. I am so impressed with your strength. I’m sure it is great to have those tubes out of you. It sounds like you are ready to head home. I know your mom and dad are. It sure does sound like everything is going well. I am praying that you are on a straight path home now. Have a wonderful day and I look forward to more updates.
