When we walked into Haven’s room this morning she was laying on her side just bright-eyed and very content. It was very cute. Then we noticed that she didn’t have a blanket covering her and that her heart rate and blood pressure were up quite a bit from normal. The nurse informed us that Haven spiked a temperature earlier this morning, and despite the Tylenol, her heart rate and blood pressure have not come down. (Neither are dangerously high, just higher due to the fever).

As usual, the circumstances are a little puzzling because though she has a temperature (which has come down just slightly over the past six hours), she shows no other sign of an infection and she’s perfectly content. The doctors like to joke about how she likes to keep them on their toes trying to figure her out. Well, it turns out that they don’t like to take kids into the operating room if they have an infection unless they have been on antibiotics for at least 48 hours. So, we’ve started her back up on antibiotics today and they have tentatively rescheduled her operation for Wednesday.

On a different note: the other day we were ooh-ing and ah-ing over some of the baby clothes that we have here for Haven. We noticed that many of the clothes said 0-3 months on the tag. Then we realized that Haven is nearly 3 months old already and thus could be moving out of that 0-3 range and into the 3-6 range. As you can imagine, Haven can’t easily wear clothes with all of the lines and tubes and wires running everywhere, but one of our nurses told us that if we had an outfit that buttoned up the front, down the legs and across the top of the arms then we might be able to manage getting something on her. Well, of course we didn’t have an outfit like that, but when we knew it was a possibility we found a way! We took a very cute outfit and took out a couple of seams and voila! A makeshift outfit for a baby in the hospital. Don’t worry we took pictures. We’ll try to get those up for you to see soon.
